Corona Update Landbouwraden 15 april

Polen:

• De huidige restricties waarbij o.a. shoppingmalls, winkels >2.000 m2 en horeca gesloten zijn, zijn verlengd tot 25 april. Voor hotels is aangekondigd dat deze in ieder geval tot 3 mei gesloten blijven. Het dragen van een mondkapje (dus geen shawls of andere vervangers) blijft verplicht buiten en in publieke ruimtes. Op de website van de Poolse overheid kunt u een overzicht vinden van alle maatregelen.
• De agrifood industrie is een van de weinige sectoren die echt grootschalig geraakt is door de pandemie, met name vanwege de restricties die de Poolse export hebben geraakt. Ook is er een effect dat boeren meer direct contact hebben met de afnemers, wat leidt tot het verkorten van de keten. Lees meer over de laatste inzichten hier.

Tsjechië:

Duitsland heeft aangekondigd dat vanaf middernacht 14 april de grenscontroles tussen Duitsland en Tsjechië zijn opgeheven in verband met de verbeterde Corona situatie in Tsjechië.

Slowakije:

Vanaf maandag 19 april worden de maatregelen versoepeld. O.a. niet essentiële winkels, botanische tuinen en hotels zullen weer opengaan. Voor restaurants, ook in hotels, blijft gelden dat alleen afhaal of bezorgen mogelijk is. Mensen mogen weer reizen naar andere districten, maar alleen als zij een negatieve test hebben en voor recreatie in de natuur. Het dragen van FFP2 maskers blijft verplicht zowel buiten als in de publieke ruimtes.   

Duitsland:

• Landbouwminister Klöckner vertelt in een interview, n.a.v. strengere regulering van voedingsreclame gericht op kinderen, dat de corona pandemie vooral een negatieve invloed heeft op de voeding van kinderen die voor gezonde voeding afhankelijk zijn van het aanbod op scholen en in de opvang: https://www.bmel.de/SharedDocs/Interviews/DE/2021/210409-rnz.html

• Aan de verordening voor een veilige werkomgeving (Arbeitsschutzverordnung) is een clausule toegevoegd dat ook landbouwbedrijven hun medewerkers COVID19-sneltestst moeten aanbieden, waarbij de werkgever de kosten draagt.  
• Boeren behoren tot de zogenaamde 3de prioriteitsgroep (dezelfde als 60-plussers) in de nationale corona-vaccinatiestrategie, en kunnen daardoor in sommige deelstaten al aanspraak maken op een prioritaire vaccinatie (als ze niet al tot een hogere prioriteitsgroep behoren).

Rusland:

• Beef consumption in Russia in 2020 decreased by 3.4% to 1.94 million tons. The 2020 indicator was the lowest for ten years. The demand for beef declined for a second year in a row, due to the closure of restaurants, the shift to remote work, and uncertainty about future earnings. The export of beef last year increased to 20 thousand tons. A decrease in consumption was recorded in the segment of dairy breeds, which is 80%. Consumption of meat breeds has grown fivefold for seven years, up to 300 thousand tons, premium cuts - 12 times, up to 30 thousand tons. Demand for relatively cheap beef has been declining for several years, but sales of the premium Black Angus line in 2020 increased by 25%.
• 70 hypermarkets closed in Russia in 2020. The share of hypermarkets in the structure of the retail space of the top 200 FMCG chains decreased by 297.000 m2 to 19.7%, according to the INFOLine survey. Increased competition from small-format stores and online stores, combined with a significant decrease in traffic in the face of anti-epidemiological restrictions and changing consumer preferences, led to a decrease in sales for most retailers developing a hypermarket format. Companies that actively developed online sales and interaction with delivery services - Metro and Lenta - were able to demonstrate positive revenues last year. In addition, those retailers who carried out the transformation of facilities were able to gain profit in 2020: X5 transformed 25 hypermarkets into Perekrestok supermarkets; Magnit transformed 25 hypermarkets and supermarkets into superstores, for which a separate Magnit Extra brand was created.

Algerije:

The current high cost of feed has made the cost of producing poultry too high. The government decided to exempt from value added tax (VAT) Livestock and poultry feed like barley and corn. For import operations, the granting of the benefit of the VAT exemption is subject to a permission and must be accompanied by an annual provisional import program.

Kenia:

• As at 14^th April 2021, Kenya has reported 148,128 positive cases, with 2,420  fatalities
• Kenya's avocado exports hit 72,000 tons in 2020 despite the Covid-19 pandemic this was an increase from the 59,000 tons recorded in 2019.
• The Port of Mombasa handled 9.54 million tons in the first quarter of 2021 compared to 8.62 million tons in a similar period last year recording 11% growth rate despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
• Equipping of Lamu Port South Sudan Ethiopia Transport (LAPSSET) has resumed after delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The port which is the country's second major sea port, and a potential transhipment hub in the continent, is expected to become operational in the next 2 months.

Tanzania:

The country stopped publishing data on Covid since April 2020 which stands at 509 confirmed cases and 21 confirmed deaths.  The economy is projected to grow at 5.7% due to sustained public investment and normalization of global trade and investment. The projection is also attributed to rolling out of measures to improve the business environment and banking lending to the private sector according to the Bank of Tanzania.
