Le Jardin de Rabelais

The project 'Le Jardin de Rabelais' consists of two parts, a greenhouse built with LED lighting and a separate Venlo greenhouse.

Greenhouse with LED interlighting

The first part of the project is a Venlo greenhouse, on this plantation there will be grown throughout the year flavor of tomatoes, in which two times a year, young plants are planted between the generative plant.

These young plants need light, which is usually intercepted by the leaves of generative plants. Through LED interlighting, these young plants get a good start, which ultimately leads to a stronger plant.

Challenge

The challenge is to provide light, needed by the young plants which are planted between the generative plant two times a year to achieve a yearround production.

The second part of the project covers a 1.6 hectare greenhouse, in this greenhouse a new flexible lighting system is needed, whereby the vegetation can be treated the best. The goal is to optimize the condition of the crop is through the climatic conditions and the plant load. With this new system an increase in the total production up to 30% is goal.

Solution / Result

Through LED interlighting, the young plants, which are planted between the generative plants, get a good start, which ultimately leads to a stronger plant.

The second part of the project was delivered fully equipped with a double line LED interlighting. The hybrid system consists of a combination of Philips GreenPower LED interlighting and SON-T lighting. It is a flexible lighting system, whereby the vegetation can be treated the best. During the growing season, the user can decide himself how he uses light to optimize the condition of the crop, the climatic conditions and the plant load. With this new system an increase in the total production up to 30% is expected.

Turnkey Project

The Venlo tomato greenhouse with an area of about 36,000 ha. was delivered complete with three ruits vents, a CO2 dosing system, a heat storage tank, a low-grade heating, a pipe rail heating, a growth lighting system, silos for water storage, a complete drip system and drain care, a mixing tank for solids and liquids and a complete boiler installation. The project was delivered turnkey, with a doubling of the area in the future in mind.
