Our customer had the idea of using the residual heat from their factory in Ekibastuz. Building a greenhouse turned out to be the best option from a financial perspective.

The investor had no knowledge of horticulture whatsoever, so the search began for a company with all of the necessary expertise about designing and constructing high-tech greenhouses. Due to the lack of local knowledge of cultivation, the opportunity for cultivation guidance that Van der Hoeven offers after delivering a greenhouse was also a key factor in the selection process.

Van der Hoeven turned out to be the right partner for the customer because they came up with a customised, full-service solution to meet all of the requirements. The customer was very pleased with the operation and yield from the first greenhouse. A second greenhouse with the same dimensions followed.

Instead of growing roses, tomato cultivation was chosen for the second greenhouse. Another tomato greenhouse was built during the third phase of this project.

Currently, the project is spread over more than 30ha, making it one of Kazakhstan's best vegetable nurseries. The perfect example of teamwork between Dutch and Kazakh companies!

We have produced a project film about the greenhouses in Ekibastuz:
