Combivliet - location Noordvliet - tomatoes

A project of which we are especially proud of is Noordvliet in Middenmeer. CombiVliet has three sites in Westland, Zeeland and North Holland. The new construction of phase four of the Noordvliet site in Middenmeer has recently been completed. Each phase is 12 hectares in size. In total the site now consists of 48 hectares of tomatoes.

The business is set up in such a way that there is room for a further expansion of another four phases. In 2011, the first phase was built in Middenmeer. CombiVliet expects to complete phase five in 2017.

Various varieties of tomatoes are grown at the Noordvliet site. Along with the varieties from the other sites, this results in a complete range of varieties.

CombiVliet likes to cooperate with other companies and suppliers with whom they have built longstanding working relationships. Cooperation is one of this company’s core values.  Another of CombiVliet’s core values is ‘Operational Excellence’; this means that people think in terms of solutions and try to bring out the best in each other. This is expected not only of their own employees, but also of partners and suppliers.

Roy van Vliet, the site manager at Noordvliet and the son of CEO Theo van Vliet, has been involved right from the start in everything that has been built and installed at this location. Thanks to intensive cooperation and ongoing communication, suppliers know exactly what is expected of them. Together with CombiCoop, for which CombiVliet provides support in relation to purchasing and the supervision of construction projects, this creates an efficient basis for a good cooperation with external suppliers. This is something of which CombiVliet is justifiably proud.

Some facts and figures:

  • The Noordvliet site has one of the largest buffer tanks (energy storage) with a capacity of up to 20,000 cu
  • Water solutions from Priva (Vialux HD/UV)
  • The Noordvliet site uses 8 CHPs and is also now using geothermal energy.
  • Priva developed for CombiVliet a software-based solution in the process computer, which ensures that the computer will carry on working in the event of a power failure.
  • This means that in various ways the company can operate in ‘island mode’, i.e. with some of the CHPs and the lighting on they are able to operate entirely independently of the power grid in the event of a disruption to the main power supply.
